Punta Pargos Sea Turtle Protection Program Education is the Key! In 2005 Sea Turtles Forever integrated a new educational program into the Punta Pargos Sea Turtle Protection Project. We go to schools surrounding Punta Pargos giving sea turtle conservations presentations. Teaching these children to value sea turtles is a new concept to the community. Along with the presentations we pass out bilingual Spanish/English sea turtle conservation coloring books and donated coloring pencils. We had great success the first year and continued the program during the 2006/2007 season. Students are interested in how they can help save sea turtles from extinction, including ones who admit they eat sea turtle eggs. We will continue with this great educational program and look forward to incorporateing beach clean-up field trips.

P.N.W Leatherback Monitoring and Awareness Program There are Sea Turtles in Oregon! In 2006 STF started this program to educate Oregonians about their criticaly endangered Leatherback sea turtles that swim off the Oregon coast during the summer time. Very few people are aware that there are sea turtles in our northern waters. With this program we will educate in schools and publicly about the turtles history, biology, threats and ways to help protect these giants from extinction.
